Summer in January

Few things can make you miss the summertime like wind in your face and ice under your feet. At least we can plan for the summer during the winter—and several of CLT’s partner colleges are offering summer programs that are well worth exploring!

Hillsdale College, one of CLT’s earliest and most loyal partners, is offering High School Summer Study and Travel Programs to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors, beginning on campus and proceeding to both domestic and international sites for study. Scholarships are available, and early applications are encouraged. Along similar lines, Abilene Christian University’s Summer Scholars 2022 program allows students to earn college credit while studying in England, even before graduating from high school; and The King’s College in New York is bringing back its in-person Summer Academy this year, including tours of the city’s outstanding museums (and remote options for students who are unable to travel).

Several of our Catholic partner colleges are offering high school summer programs and camps this year, including Benedictine College, Christendom College, Saint Vincent College, and Belmont Abbey College. There are also a number of programs with a special focus on the great books on offer this summer, such as the Summer Scholars Program at Templeton Honors College and Thomas Aquinas College’s High School Great Books Program, with locations available in California and New England. Last, but certainly not least, right around the corner here in Annapolis (and at its sister campus in Santa Fe), St. John’s College is offering its Great Books Summer Program, designed for high school students to get a taste of its stimulating and prestigious curriculum and Socratic teaching model.
