This month, we are excited to announce our first CLT School Spotlight: Mars Hill Academy!
Located in Mason, Ohio, Mars Hill Academy exists to assist parents in training their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord by offering academic instruction from a fully integrated Christian perspective. They equip students to joyfully learn for themselves in academics, arts, athletics, and service using the proven classical method in an engaging atmosphere. Keeping the end in sight from the beginning, they aim to graduate young men and women who possess a deep understanding of their world; the ability to discern truth, beauty, and goodness; and the tools to think, learn, and influence the world for the glory of God.

Mars Hill & CLT
What has your school’s experience been like with CLT? How does CLT fit in with your mission? What effects have you seen on your students and staff?
Mars Hill Academy has had an outstanding experience with the Classic Learning Test. As early adopters, we have fully integrated the CLT into our testing program for grades 3–12, allowing us to measure student progress consistently across all levels. The CLT aligns closely with our mission to provide an outstanding classical, Christian education that emphasizes critical thinking, reading comprehension, and clear communication. Unlike other standardized tests, the CLT measures reasoning, logic, and understanding of foundational texts—skills our curriculum cultivates from the earliest grades through high school.
The impact on our students and staff has been significant. Students are challenged to think deeply and articulate their understanding, which reinforces the habits of scholarship we cultivate in every classroom. Teachers also benefit from the detailed insights the CLT provides. Overall, the CLT complements our mission by providing a meaningful, standards-aligned measure of academic excellence while affirming the value of classical education in preparing students for college and beyond.
