Student Profile:
Matthew Tolbert, First Ever 120 on the CLT

At six years old, the Classic Learning Test
has a perfect score for the first time!

Classic Learning Initiatives was founded in December of 2015. Our most recent CLT was administered on the fourth of this month, and on it, one of our students got the first-ever perfect score of 120—that’s the equivalent of higher than a 1600 on the SAT!

The high-achieving student in question is Matthew Tolbert, a homeschooled high schooler from Pennsylvania. He and his parents recently sat down with our founder and CEO, Jeremy Tate, and our Chief Operations Officer, Tracy Gardner, for an interview on our podcast, Anchored. They discuss Matthew’s homeschooled “career” and interests in mathematics, economics, music, and computer science, his history of enthusiasm for the CLT and CLT10, and his college ambitions (which include four CLT partner colleges: Hillsdale, New Saint Andrews, New College Franklin, and Patrick Henry).

Congratulations to Matthew on his record-making achievement, and a very merry Christmas and happy New Year to the Tolberts and to all friends of the CLT!

The passages, they stick with me. I took the PSAT two months ago; I can't remember any of the passages. However, I can remember the passages from the CLT10 I took in ninth grade! So, they're actually things that you want to read, that you want to learn from.
