The CLT Classical Teaching Corps
This new, one-of-a-kind teaching program is poised to help nurture a new generation of classical educators.
The Classic Learning Test (CLT) has launched the first, and only, program for aspiring teachers guaranteeing placement at a top classical school: the CLT Classical Teaching Corps.
The application of for the CLT Classical Teaching Corps is now live. Strong applicants will have a passion for education as formation, and a desire to impact the next generation.
The CLT Classical Teaching Corps program is open to current college seniors. If you are not a senior in college, we are happy to recommend our friends at Classical Commons to anyone looking to teach in a great classical school.
CLT is partnering with a select cohort of classical schools for this new initiative, which includes three distinct tracks: Catholic; Classical Charter; and Classical Christian. Corps members admitted to the program will be guaranteed a teaching position at one of these schools, and will commit to teach at their assigned school for two years. Each track will be led by a Distinguished Chair, in order to provide vision and oversight for Corps members.
Catholic Distinguished Chair
Sean Maltbie
Sean Maltbie is the current President and former Headmaster of Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Rapids, MI. Prior to his roles at Sacred Heart, he served in the USAF and Air National Guard, and was also appointed as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan.
Classical Charter Distinguished Chair
Lindsay Hoyt
Lindsay is the Founder and Governing Board Chair of Cornerstone Classical Academy in Jacksonville, FL, as well as the Executive Director of Jacksonville Classical Academy. Previously, Lindsay was the co-owner of an internationally-recognized electronics company, and has also worked in fundraising, media, and grassroots mobilization in Washington, DC.
Classical Christian Distinguished Chair
Keith Nix
Keith Nix is the Head of School at Veritas School in Richmond, VA and a member of the President's Advisory Council for The Society for Classical Learning (SCL). Prior to his tenure at Veritas, he served as a board member and later as Head of School at Westminster School in Birmingham, AL.
CLT is also partnering with Belmont Abbey, Benedictine College, and the Templeton Honors College at Eastern University, to provide on-campus teaching training and formation for Corps members in the summer of 2025. This training will be for graduate credit, and Corps members will have opportunities to complete the graduate program at these universities during their time of service in the CLT Classical Teaching Corps.
This is a highly competitive program. The application closes December 1st, 2024 (or when capacity is reached). Applicants will be notified if they have been admitted by February 1st, 2025.
A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.
